You Are Allowed to Demand Real Answers Before You Say Yes to a Freight Sales Role

Before you accept that offer, you are allowed to ask the questions most candidates never think to ask. The ones who do get a different outcome.

Most freight forwarding sales candidates walk into an offer and nod. Here is what you are entitled to know before you sign anything:

→ Ask exactly when commission starts and whether a threshold stands between you and your first dollar. That number is the job.

→ Ask how many people are working on pricing and what their mandate is. Whether you win on price every day is structural, not personal.

→ Ask whether the sales manager actually comes on calls with you. Leadership support is a closing resource, and it varies sharply by company.

→ Ask about equity before you accept. Some platforms carry stock options with genuine upside. You are entitled to that information.

→ Walk away from any company that cannot answer these questions clearly. Opacity at the offer stage is data, not an oversight.

Darius and Company works inside these companies every day. We know which ones pay 10% commission from dollar one with zero thresholds, which ones have 20 pricing specialists whose entire job is to make sure you win on price, and which ones are backed by Silicon Valley venture capital and Wall Street private equity with stock options that could make you a millionaire. We know which sales managers will show up on calls and help you close.

You are allowed to demand real answers before you say yes.
