Most freight sales producers who regret a move can point to the day it went wrong. The real crack was usually there before they signed, underneath the part of the offer they checked.
The descent runs deep. One offer, judged alone, with nothing beside it, and you negotiate against yourself. A pay number measured only inside your current company tends to agree with itself. Lanes, management and carrier strength decide whether your book can actually be sold there.
The deepest crack is a career built only from the companies, pay, niches and paths that happened to find you.
Each of these is structural. A better negotiation or a sharper resume will not reach it.
